I wasn't planning on doing any more posts. I thought maybe I'd change my mind later. ??? But since you asked, I will try to come up with more ideas. After my identity was revealed, I realized I couldn't really share recipes or pretend to be an expert cook. You all know better. I also have way too many aprons in my house at the moment, and making them without a specific recipient in mind is too hard for me. But, I have been busy with lots more projects. Maybe I'll share some pictures of them. In the meantime, here are a few pictures that make me smile. Hope you like them!

Hello again!

I apologize for the extra long break I have taken from this blog. Life has been busy this past month, and not with anything interesting enough to share on this blog. Now I am taking the advice from my silent but very inspiring “friend” who sits on my table to take it easy and enjoy all the goodness around me. I am ready to get started on several projects I have had to put aside temporarily. Starting with recovering my couch cushions, then making a bedspread, and in the middle, I have a few more aprons to make.

We have been way too busy celebrating this week for me to think of anything to write about on this blog, so I apologize to anyone that has been checking for updates.

My oldest son turned 8 on Monday. We treated him to dinner at a restaurant he's been dying to go to. They serve your food in a dog bowl. The boys had a blast!



Last night my husband and I celebrated Valentines Day early with a candlelight dinner at home. We played CDs our friends made for our wedding reception during the meal and while we sat and finished the wine. The kids were our waiters and were thrilled that they got to eat their dinner in their bedroom. They did a great job checking on us, and we kept them very busy bringing us seconds, refilling our glasses, and clearing the table when we were done. The littlest just wanted us to finish so he could blow out the candle. Not exactly the most romantic dinner, but we all had a really good time. We finished the evening off with us all enjoying brownies ala mode while watching Shrek 3.

I'm not sure what you thought yesterday's picture was, but I thought it looked like water. It was actually me taking pictures of the moon using different camera settings from the passenger seat of the car.

This is a picture of my son at the beach demanding me to "Stop it!" and getting intimidatingly close to the camera as he said it. I guess he was tired of all the shots I had been taking.

Ok, back to my favorite mistake pictures. I'll let you try to guess what this is actually a picture of. I'll tell you the answer tomorrow.

I had to include a favorite kid quote in this post as well. This was a conversation between my sister and her son who is 3 today.

Tayvn: Mom, sometime can me and you and Jaymen and Aunt Shaye and Roc and you make cookies together?

His Mom: Sure. Why didn't you ask me while we were at the store? I would have bought cookie dough.

Tayvn: Aunt Shaye hasn't made me an apron yet.

What a doll!! He is obviously going to get an extra birthday present. Happy Birthday, T!!!

I forgot to thank Chef Hethyr for the wonderful food ideas for our party in the previous post. But, thank you very much! We had so much fun preparing them, and the boys thought it was the best meal they'd ever had.

Super Tuesday Surprise Party

We interrupt our regularly scheduled topic to bring you a picture of our "Super Tuesday Surprise Party." My youngest son and I planned this party for my husband and older son. We let the oldest son in on the plans, because we needed his help preparing the food. We made a ginormous cheeseburger, red and blue french fries (at least we tried), and red, white, and blue decorated sugar cookies. We played games with prizes and watched the primary election coverage on TV. We also made shirts to wear during the party and decorated the paper cups with stickers of our favorite candidate.

This picture was taken on a very foggy day at the beach. It was so foggy in fact that when we left, our hair was as wet as if it had been raining. Anyway, it is hard to tell just how foggy it was, but it did capture the right color of the sun, beach, and water.

I obviously had my camera on the wrong setting when I took this picture, but the colors turned out perfect with the delayed flash. The other pictures I took that night turned out too bright. It made it difficult to tell this was a night show. I also liked the motion captured in the picture, but it is definitely not a quality shot. Just one I love.

Next week...

I have finally got some pictures uploaded to the computer from my new camera. Like I said, I am not a very good photographer, but I have been practicing to improve. Next week, I will be sharing my favorite mistakes with you. Have a good weekend!

Update...

Sorry this blog was not updated by the 15th as promised. It turns out getting a motherboard for my old computer is more expensive than buying a new computer altogether. So, we are taking our time looking for a new one and considering switching to a Mac. Please post a comment if you have any suggestions or comments about this.

The good news is that I got a new camera for Christmas that I am so excited about. Once I have a new computer, I will be posting some of the pictures I have been taking to improve my photography skills. Hopefully, you will find some of them enjoyable.

The other good news is that a local restaurant is interested in selling my aprons, so I am busy getting the inventory ready. This means that my Etsy shop will probably not be updated for a while, but considering the sales, I don't think it will be an issue.

Thank you to those of you that continue to read this blog! I hope it will become more interesting when I am able to update it regularly.

The Mother Ship has crashed...

I'm sorry it has been such a long time since my last blog. My mother ship (or mother board) has crashed. I will try to have the problem fixed and more aprons (maybe some other items as well) in my shop by Jan. 15th. Thanks to all of you that continue to check my blog for updates and continue to be disappointed. Happy New Year!

This is the apron I made for my sister, Krystl, last Christmas, and she models it so well. It says “small but powerful and lots of fun” to me which is exactly Krystl. I love her and miss her dearly!

Beatiful Ladies in Aprons

I decided the easiest way to get over my fears of people reading this blog was to post more pictures of other people in aprons. The first is an undated picture of my Grandma McDonald. The second picture is of my sister, Hethyr, last Christmas in one of Grandma's aprons. There are really no words to do these pictures justice which makes my job easy. I hope you all enjoy looking at these as much as I do.

After begging my Mom to please not use my name if she shared this site with anyone, she sent out an e-mail to her entire contact list with my name and the link. And to top it off, she also sent the e-mail to me, so I know how many people were included. Now, of course, I can’t think of anything to write about. It is so much easier when you assume no one will be reading it. And, if anyone did, I was using the ever-so-clever code name thought up by my husband. Our tree

Although I would like to use this space to share recipes and apron pictures, the focus in our household is currently on the holidays. And we’re not quite to the holiday baking yet. Last night, we started to decorate our Christmas tree. Since we will be traveling for Christmas, we are using our beautiful $10 fake tree this year. Unfortunately, after cleaning up 2 broken glass ornaments and running to the store twice (the first time for hooks & the second for more lights), this is how far we got on the tree…

No garland, no ornaments, no skirt, and no star on top. Even the lights that are on don’t look that good. Hopefully we will be able to finish decorating tonight and move on to the baking!

Day 1

Hello! Today is my first day blogging. This blog will be a dedication to my personal love of aprons. (Although I’m sure as time goes by, my other loves will be revealed as well.) For those of you that are not regular apron wearers, I would like to suggest you give them a try. I can’t explain what it is about wearing an apron that is so empowering. Maybe it is the “official” feeling wearing an apron creates. It doesn’t matter if I’m baking a cake from scratch or just putting spoonfuls of refrigerated cookie dough into the oven. Wearing an apron makes it feel like I’m really good at it. Then again, maybe I love wearing aprons because of the connection I feel to the other women, past and present, in my family. Many pictures I still have of my Grandma are of her wearing aprons. Some are of the holiday baking, and some are just everyday breakfast moments captured. I can’t help but see the resemblance when I see a reflection of myself wearing an apron. Even if I’m not quite the bubbly, goofy, beautiful, and ever so skilled cook that I remember of my grandma, I feel a little more like her when I have an apron on. Or, maybe it’s simply the feeling of relief when bacon grease splatters and I realize that my clothes are protected. No need to run out of the kitchen ripping off my clothes to immediately treat a stain and find something else to wear. Nope, just untie the apron once I’m finished cooking and throw it in the washer or simply hang it back on its hook. That’s what it is for. The other feelings are just an added bonus.
